Scholars are divided over this controversial work and its attribution to Raphael, Giulio Romano or Penni. Psyche’s face as she receives the cup of immortality from Mercury reminds us of Rossana (see following text) as she welcomes Alexander as her husband but his body is too muscular. The movements of the drapes, however, are typical of Raphael. Probably dated 1517.

Opera di attribuzione molto controversa, con gli studiosi divisi tra Raffaello, Giulio Romano e il Penni. Il volto di Psiche, che riceve da Mercurio la coppa dell’immortalità, ricorda molto quello della Rossana (vedi scheda seguente) che accoglie Alessandro come sposo; ma il suo corpo è un po’ troppo muscolare. I movimenti dei panneggi, comunque, fanno pensare a Raffaello. Probabile datazione, 1517.
