CONFIRMATION OF THE RULES 
This part portrays the approval of the rules by the Pope and his mandate to preach the penitence. The Pope also had the monks accompanying the Saint crowned so that they, too, could preach the word of God. There immediately results a contrast in the sumptuous hall papered with fabric between the Pope with his priests and the group of monks, often identified by the contrast between the terrestrial and spiritual images of the Church.

LA CONFERMA DELLA REGOLA
Lo scomparto raffigura l’approvazione della regola da parte del papa e il suo mandato a predicare la penitenza. Il papa, inoltre, fece fare corone ai frati che accompagnavano il santo, affinché predicassero la parola di Dio.
Risulta subito evidente il contrasto, nella sontuosa aula tappezzata di stoffe, tra il papa con i prelati e il gruppo di frati, spesso identificato con il contrasto tra l’immagine terrena della Chiesa e la sua immagine spirituale.
