RENUNCIATION OF HIS WORLDLY GOODS  
This depicts the moment when St. Francis, shedding his clothes and partly covered by the bishop, renounces his worldly goods and invokes eternity, that is probably portrayed in a symbolic way in the upper central part where only a hand may be seen. Facing him is his father, Pietro di Bernardone, blocked by one of his men. It is, yet again, thought that this fresco was not completely painted by the artist himself with evidence in the heads of some of Bernardone’s followers and, perhaps, in that of the bishop.

LA RINUNCIA AGLI AVERI
Qui è raffigurato il momento in cui San Francesco, toltesi le vesti e ricoperto parzialmente dal vescovo, rinuncia ai beni paterni e temporali e invoca l’Eterno, che probabilmente era raffigurato in modo simbolico nella parte centrale in alto, dove ora appare solo una mano, mentre, davanti a lui, il padre, Pietro di Bernardone, viene trattenuto per un braccio da uno dei suoi uomini.
Anche in questo caso si ritiene che l’affresco non sia del tutto autografo, cosa che sembra piuttosto evidente in alcune teste del seguito di Bernardone e, forse, anche in quella del vescovo.
