L'opera
(1276 c.) ci č giunta frammentaria; rappresentava gli ultimi onori
liturgici resi al defunto. I sinuosi movimenti delle figure si
compongono in un ritmo solenne, pausato, di schietto sapore arcaico. Le
incrostazioni cosmatesche sottolineano ulteriormente l'astratta
trasfigurazione rituale, conferendole un tono di aristocratica
preziositā. |

This work, dating about
1276, has come
down to us in fragments; it represented the final liturgical honors paid
to the deceased. The sinuous movements of the figures are composed in a
solemn, halting rhythm, of an openly archaic flavor. The marble inlay in
the Cosmati style further emphasize this abstract, ritual
transfiguration, lending it a tone of aristocratic refinement.
