Barisano da Trani
Sant'Eustachio Abile manipolatore di
temi diversi, Barisano usa sovente nelle sue porte i medesimi stampi, le
cui matrici si plasmano ora su moduli scultorei - come nella scena
precedente - ora su cassette eburnee o lavori d'oreficeria e di tessuto.
A Monreale sembra impegnato in una modellazione tenera e liscia sul tipo
di quella di Bonanno Pisano, a sciogliere la meccanicità dello schema. |

An able manipulator of different
themes, Barisano
frequently used the same stamp for his doors and they were used here for
sculptural models, as in the previous scene, sometimes for an ivory box,
jewellery or material. At
Monreale they were used for a soft, plain modelling of the type used by
Bonanno Pisano, dissolving the mechanics of the schema.
