in Toscana, come si è già visto, i marmorari toccano punte di
squisitezza estrema. Il pergamo di Volterra, ricomposto con formelle di
varie mani, ha la sua bellezza non tanto nelle figure, dovute a un
epigono di Guglielmo, affine a Guido Begarelli ma più grossolano,
quanto nella lucente e polita trattazione del marmo, portato a effetti
alabastrini. |

Last Supper
As already
seen, even in Tuscany the marble carvers
touched points of extreme exquisiteness. The pulpit of Volterra, composed of
panels by different artists, has its beauty not in the figures by a follower
of Guglielmo and close to Guido Begarelli, but in the light and clean lines of
the marble with its alabaster effects.
