Wiligelmo     Il lavoro dei progenitori Il significato dell'arte di Wiligelmo è anche di aver sgombrato il terreno da ogni fatuo descrittivismo, raggiungendo la pienezza espressiva con i mezzi più semplici e diretti. Il gesto affaticato con cui Adamo ed Eva, impacciati dalle grosse vesti, manovrano gli strumenti del lavoro, si scarica lungo gli strumenti stessi verso terra, ancorando le due figure alla loro condanna. La scena non si esaurisce però nella rappresentazione della fatica e della sconfitta, ma la dignità degli atti e delle pose la illumina di spirituale bellezza.	Wiligelmo     The work of the forefathers The significance of the art of Wiligelmo is also that of having freed the earth from all descriptiveness, reaching total expression and using the most simple and direct means. The weary gesture with which Adam and Eve, clumsy in their heavy robes, move the tools of their work, pointing  them towards the ground, anchoring the two figures to their condemnation. The scene is not exhausted in the representation of the trials and defeats but in the dignity of the acts and the poses that illuminate it with spiritual beauty.
