Built in 1255 as the seat of the Captain of the People, it then became the seat of the Podesta and finally the Captain of Justice or Bargello from which it took its name. It now houses the National Museum with important masterpieces of sculpture and art. Costruito nel 1255 come sede per il Capitano del Popolo fu poi destinato a sede del Podestà e infine del Capitano di Giustizia o Bargello da cui prese il nome. Ora è sede del Museo Nazionale che raccoglie rilevanti capolavori di scultura e di arte minore.
