CROTON Scientific
name: Codiaeum Family:
Euforbiacee Description:
The leaves of the Croton are characteristic not for their oval or elongated shape, but for their bright colour
varying from yellow to red, pink or green. These colours make the plant highly decorative. Place
of origin: Malaysia and the pacific islands Cultivation:
Place in luminous but sheltered areas, as the plant dislikes drafts. Mild, humid temperatures are necessary. Spray
the leaves frequently if the temperature rises and keep the plant clean. Always use slightly tepid water, little and
often, and try to maintain the soil slightly humid. Stagnant water rots the roots. A little fertiliser added every
three weeks is enough to nourish the plant. Wash the leaves with water and milk to prevent loss of leaves during the
winter months. If many have fallen, try re-potting in spring in universal soil and prune to
strengthen. Multiplication:
Reproduce by talea or margotte in hot, greenhouses. |
Coltivazione:
I Croton vanno posti in angoli ben luminosi ma riparati, in quanto temono molto le correnti d'aria. |
