CISSUS

Scientific name: Cissus antartica and Rhoicissus romboidea

Family: Vitacee

Description: The Cissus is a climbing plant with long, thin tendrils that can be made to climb plastic netting on a wall or just be left to hang. The oval or lanceolate, simple or compound leaves are a shiny green in colour and may be plain or variegated.

Place of origin: Australia and the tropical zones of America and Africa.

Cultivation: These plants are usually robust and grow well both in full light and in shade. A temperature of about 20° is preferred but the plant suffers if it drops below 10°. Use normal, slightly humid soil and fertilise only in the vegetative period.

Multiplication: Place talea in water or humid sand in early spring until the roots appear.

Luogo d'origine: L'Australia e le zone tropicali dell'America e dall'Africa. 

Descrizione: I Cissus sono rampicanti i cui lunghi tralci sottili,  muniti di viticci, possono essere fatti salire su una rete di plastica appesa a un muro o lasciati ricadere. Sono piante generose che producono abbondante fogliame.
Le foglie ovali o  lanceolate, semplici o composte, sono di un bel verde lucido unito o variegato .  

Coltivazione: Queste piante sono generalmente robuste e vegetano bene sia in piena luce sia in posizione ombrosa.
Amano una temperatura che si aggiri sui 20°, ma soffrono solo quando il termometro scende al di sotto dei 10°.
Un normale terriccio per piante, tenuto sempre leggermente umido e concimato solo nel periodo vegetativo garantirą il benessere dei cespi.
