CAPELVENERE Scientific
name:
Adiantum capillus Veneris Family:
Polipodiacee Common
name:
Capelvenere Description:
The light, elegant leaves of this fern fully merit the referral to the goddess Venus’s hair. The small, delicate,
light green, cuneiform leaves contrast the shiny black stems that support them. Place
of origin:
Hot, humid areas of tropical America Cultivation:
The beautiful Capelvenere plant is, unfortunately, difficult to keep healthy. As with all ferns, it requires diffused
light and dislikes direct sunlight. Maintain constant temperatures otherwise the plant loses its aerial part and only
in optimum conditions will it re-grow in spring. In order to offer these conditions, guarantee the rhizome a layer of
peat. Use small flowerpots and re-plant in spring without breaking the clump of soil around the plant. Water
abundantly in summer but less during winter, maintaining the earth fresh. Spraying the leaves is necessary where
there is little humidity. Fertilise the plants once a month. Multiplication:
To reproduce the Adiantum capillus Veneris, divide the plants in spring when re-potting. |
